Thank you for your interest in ConnectMUN 2010! At ConnectMUN we deeply value our staff as they are an integral part of a great conference experience. This year we are looking for candidates who embody ConnectMUN's goals of sharing the joy of Model United Nations as well as giving inexperienced delegates a taste of international relations and diplomacy.
The ideal candidate for a staff position would be someone who has a genuine interest in global and current affairs, as well as debate; displays professionalism; and is well versed in the language and regulations of Model UN. Each committee usually consists of three staff members although this number may vary depending on the size of the individual committee.
The Director is responsible for writing the backgrounders, reviewing position papers and draft resolutions, as well as stimulating and regulating debate. The Director is in charge of the committee, and makes the final decisions with input from the rest of the dias.
The Chair is in charge of all Model UN procedures. The Chair must have an excellent grasp of Model UN rules and must have good multi-tasking skills.
The Crisis Director writes the crisis and organizes the timing of the simulations at the advice of the Director. The Crisis Director should be up to date on current affairs in order to make believable crisis and field the onslaught of questions from delegates.
On your application form you will be requested to rank these positions according to the order of your preference. Please note that although previous Model UN experience is a definite asset, candidates who display superior knowledge in international relations will still be considered for a position.
